I've not yet achieved the illustrious rank of Professor so I'm picturing my esteemed colleague Theo Farrell, Professor of War in the Modern World, demonstrating the parallels between things and, ummm, other things with the appropriate hand gestures.

If the Press are the fifth estate in the US polity, what is the Onion? Certainly an essential institution of US democracy.
Funnily enough, the same day as the appointment of the new US "War Tsar" was announced, I was flipping through one of my Onion compilations and came across an old piece called "Bush to appoint someone to run the country".
Ouch.
